Feng Shui Principles Shape Sembawang Engineers & Constructors’ Modern Workspace
Introduction
A leading player in Southeast Asia’s engineering and construction sector, Sembawang Engineers & Constructors sought an office that embodied both professional strength and the harmony of feng shui. To achieve this, MGroup collaborated closely with renowned Singapore feng shui grandmaster Tan Khoon Yong, ensuring every element of design was guided by energy, balance and purpose.
The Flow of Qi
At the heart of the office lies a sculptural reception designed to symbolise a precious metal pearl. This curved glass-and-wood counter rests beneath a stainless-steel ceiling treated with gold tones — together drawing positive qi into the space. The white tiled flooring and the company’s signature dark blue accents complete a clean, modern aesthetic while reinforcing Sembawang’s identity. The flow of qi was carefully shaped from the entrance through to the boardroom, encouraging a sense of movement, vitality and success.
Elements in Harmony
Inside the boardroom, feng shui’s five elements — wood, fire, water, metal and earth — are expressed through striking wall panels that frame a custom marble table, representing strength and unity. High-grade finishes integrated audiovisual technology, and a discreet whiteboard wall complete this space for leadership and decision-making. The design is both functional and symbolic, reflecting Sembawang’s belief in aligning energy, material and purpose.
