ESPN’s Workplace Reimagined Amid Live Operations
Introduction
As Asia’s definitive and complete sports broadcaster and content provider, ESPN thrives on energy, speed and precision — qualities that also defined its 70,000-square-foot Singapore headquarters renovation. Tasked with keeping live studios and broadcast schedules running without disruptions, MGroup created a carefully choreographed plan that turned the challenge into a winning strategy.
Immersive First Impressions
Visitors are welcomed into a reception space that doubles as a live media environment. An electronic news ticker wraps around a commentator’s box, streaming the latest updates, while a 16-channel media wall broadcasts ESPN STAR Sports’ diverse programming. Beneath it all lies a basketball court floor, engineered to both look and sound authentic when played upon. This establishes the sporting theme from the first step inside.
A World of Sports Within
The theme continues across the workplace, where meeting rooms are styled with memorabilia and design cues from golf, cricket and Formula One. These immersive environments not only reflect the brand’s global sporting reach but also provide a distinctive setting for collaboration and creativity.
Seamless Transition
Delivering this project demanded precision. Given that the live studios and server rooms had to remain fully operational, MGroup executed a “pocket renovation” strategy – progressing phase by phase while teams were relocated in sequence. Over eighteen months and multiple carefully managed stages, the transformation was completed on time, on budget, and with no major disruption to ESPN’s operations.
“The renovation and refurbishing project covers an area of 69,800 sqft. MGroup demonstrated great consideration and attention to detail, which was important as we had to continue our daily business operations on a 24x7 basis while the project was still in progress. Throughout the whole project, the design team consulted and worked very closely with us on last-minute design modifications and helped us to keep the costs within our approved budget. We are very pleased with the new look of our office, having transformed our workplace into a modern, fresh and sporty environment.
