Acoustic Advantage:
Sound Meets Sophistication at the Maybank Treasury Office in ORQ
Introduction
A contemporary and streamlined corporate space was envisioned for the Maybank Treasury office in One Raffles Quay, Singapore, reflecting the bank’s prominence in global trading. With privacy and sound control a priority, acoustic treatment was a central focus.
Perfect Views
The boardroom, situated next to the reception with sweeping views of Marina Bay Sands, features acoustic control for the ceiling, three-layer thick gypsum partitions with internal rock wool, double-layer soundproof glass, and an electronic frosting film solution on glass panels and doors.
Visually, the room includes a large marble conference table customised with concealed sockets and a cantilevered video conferencing system embedded within the ceiling for a clean, sophisticated look. Operable acoustic panels allow the boardroom to merge with adjacent meeting rooms, supporting flexible use.
Modern Expression
At the reception, natural marble stone and large Italian tiles ground the space in sleek modernity. The feature wall pairs metallic textured glass with warm wood accents. A white concierge counter is set off-centre to create a more spacious waiting area and draw attention to Maybank’s bright yellow logo. The asymmetry complements a timber trellis that extends from wall to ceiling, concealing LED lighting strips for a warm, ambient glow.
“Our goal was to create a workspace that balances acoustic performance with visual sophistication — a space where discretion, comfort, and contemporary design come together seamlessly.
Behind the signage wall, two mid-sized meeting rooms lead to the breakout area and pantry/café. These areas feature heavy-duty operable walls to allow conversion into a larger space for town hall meetings or events.
Consistent with the design language, the meeting rooms mirror the boardroom’s acoustic features, including soundproof glass, sound absorption panels, and acoustic return ducting. Two phone booths along the side corridor provide employees with private, acoustically treated spaces for focused work or confidential calls.
